About the Role
The Analyst will provide advanced demographic research and statistical analysis in support of population-health reporting, planning, and decision-making. The role is responsible for analyzing mortality, natality, and linked birth/infant-death datasets; applying and refining racial-misclassification adjustment methodologies; and producing accurate, reproducible demographic datasets, reports, and analytical products.
The Analyst will develop, maintain, and document SAS and R code used for demographic analysis, including life table construction, life expectancy calculations, Years of Potential Life Lost (YPLL), standardization, and related population-health measures. The position will also support recurring demographic publications, perform ad hoc demographic studies, interpret analytical findings, and respond to technical questions from project stakeholders.
The role requires strong attention to data quality, reproducibility, and documentation. Analytical code and methodologies must be written clearly enough for other analysts to understand, execute, maintain, and modify independently. The Analyst will also participate in technical discussions, recurring coordination meetings, and knowledge-transfer activities while ensuring compliance with applicable security, privacy, HIPAA, and data-handling requirements.
